Egg Hunt!

Yesterday, we spent all afternoon in the kitchen helping Mrs. Claus dye eggs with food coloring! It was a lot of fun and we dyed the eggs all sorts of colors! The eggs are going to be used in our annual Spring Egg Hunt! Right now, Santa is outside hiding the eggs all over the workshop, classroom, and reindeer stables. Last year, Santa hid the eggs in such sneaky places that we found eggs months after the egg hunt. This year, Santa is giving out two prizes. One prize is for the elf who finds…

Planting a Garden in the Green House!

Just like Santa promised, he's building a greenhouse today! We're going to grow so many beautiful flowers. I've got tulip seeds and sunflower seeds. I can't wait to see how tall the sunflowers grow. I bet they'll grow taller than me! We've also got red rose seeds, lily seeds, and some morning glory seeds! Before building the greenhouse, Santa made sure to explain to us that the flowers would be our responsibility and that we'll have to water them every day. I don't mind the extra work - I…

First Day of Spring!

Spring has sprung here at the North Pole! The sun is shining and it's a balmy 22 degrees outside! Now, at the North Pole, we don't experience the spring season like most of the world. In fact, we still have snow on the ground. But all of the snow doesn't stop us from getting into the spirit of spring! Even though real flowers don't grow out of the ground here, we like to paint pictures of flowers and hang them around the classroom. The paintings really put a smile on everyone's faces! At…

St. Patrick's Day!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day to you! Time to put on your favorite green outfit and hope that no one pinches you today! In honor of the holiday, we’ve got a special Irish themed feast planned for the day. We started the day with a traditional Irish breakfast. We ate eggs, bacon, toast, tomatoes, and baked beans. Yes, baked beans for breakfast! Later in the day, Mrs. Claus is going to teach us how to do the Irish stepdance. I’m excited! Finally, we’ll end the day with a big bowl of Irish stew for…

Pi Day!

March 14 is pi day and today in math class, we’re going to learn all about pi. In math, pi is the number 3.14, so that’s why we celebrate pi day on the fourteenth day of the third month! We’re learning about circles right now and pi is a special number that helps you figure out the size of a circle! To help celebrate pi day, Mrs. Claus is baking all sorts of yummy pies that we’re going to eat in class during our lesson! She’s making apple, pecan, and cherry pie. Yum! Now, math isn’t my…

National Craft Month!

I bet you didn’t know that March is National Craft Month! At the North Pole, we love being crafty and coming up with fun ways to use normal items. Every week, we’re going to learn a new craft in class! This first week is all about learning how to knit! I’m so excited to learn how to knit my own scarf! After that, we’ve got a week dedicated to popsicle stick crafts, followed up by a week of Christmas crafts. Mrs. Claus told us that we’re going to make Christmas ornaments and other Christmas…

Field Day!

All cla**** have been cancelled today because it’s field day! Santa has split myself and the other scout elves into teams. Each team is assigned a color. I’m on the red team with Scroller, Peppermint, Charlie, and Bob! Santa and Mrs. Claus have planned so many cool activities for our big Field Day competition. We’re going to have a three-legged race, tug of war, an apple bobbing contest, and a hula hoop marathon! I’m an expert at hula hooping, so I really hope that I win that part of the…

Studying Mythology!

We’ve started a new lesson in class today and it’s all about mythology! I had no idea that so all of the months of the year are named after Greek and Roman gods. In fact, March is named of Mars, the roman god of war! Just like we have fairy tales, the Greeks and Romans had stores about people with super strength and powers, like Zeus and Hercules! So far, my favorite story is about King Midas. One day, he was given a wish and he wished that everything he touched would turn to gold! His plan…

Preparing for Christmas 2013!

It’s only March, but it’s never too early to start thinking about Christmas! December will be here in the blink of an eye! We’ve already started collecting thousands of rolls of wrapping paper and ribbon and boxes of bows. To get the workshop ready, we’ve got a huge cleaning day planned for tomorrow. It’s important to make sure that all the machines are in tip-top shape! Pretty soon, we’ll start researching all of the new toys that have come out this year so we’ll be prepared when we receive…

Tell a Fairytale Day!

Once upon a time… That’s the opening line to all the great fairytale stories! Today is Tell a Fairytale Day and Mrs. Claus promised to tell our favorite fairytale stories tonight after dinner! I love the stories about brave princes and princesses, dragons, and evil witches! Sometimes during recess, we’ll dress up and act out the stories from our favorite fairytales. I always like to be Cinderella! In a way, scout elves are a lot like fairy godmothers because we watch over you and you tell us…

Why is February the Shortest Month?

Have you ever wondered why February is the shortest month of the year? Well, I have! It was bothering me so much that I decided to do some research about it! February is the only month with less than 30 days. Normally, it has 28 days, and every four years, it has 29 days. The special years with 29 days are called Leap Years. A Leap Year has 366 days instead of the usual 365. A long time ago, the Romans had a 10 month calendar and then they decided to create a 12 month calendar that matches…

To All The Walking Dead Lovers Out There:.

The truth is, it's just a weird question to ask. There are two groups of The Walking Dead fans: People that really want the men and women to live. And then there are the type which will have fun with the gory massacre of zombies chewing on our brains.

What, you have not seen The Walking Dead? Allow us to change that! Currently, it's the highly-acclaimed Tv program created by Frank Darabont, though formerly it is primarily based on the white and black comic books by Robert Kirkman, Tony… Continue

President's Day!

“Four score and seven years ago…” That’s a famous line from Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation! We’re learning all about America’s most famous presidents this week in honor of President’s Day. Originally meant to celebrate George Washington’s birthday, President’s Day is now celebrated on the third Monday of February. This morning, Mrs. Claus told us all sorts of fun stories about the presidents. Did you know that George Washington had wooden teeth? That’s crazy! Another fun fact is…

Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine’s Day! We’ve decorated Mrs. Claus’ kitchen and the workshop with red, white, and pink streamers and bows! Using some Christmas magic, Mrs. Claus was able to cook red pancakes in the shape of a heart for our breakfast this morning. They were such a sweet treat! Afterwards, we made Valentine’s Day cards for all our friends, Santa, and the reindeer! While we were in class, Mrs. Claus talked to us about the importance of friendship and always letting our friends know how much…

National Inventors' Day!

Put your thinking cap on because it’s National Inventors’ Day! Just imagine what our lives would be like if someone hadn’t invented gla**** or the telephone! Without his gla****, Santa wouldn’t be able to read your Christmas lists! And without the invention of the oven, Mrs. Claus couldn’t bake batches of yummy Christmas cookies! Today in class, we’re going to brainstorm and see what inventions we can create! I think it would be pretty cool if someone would invent an alarm clock that makes a…

Tie-Dying Shirts on a Dreary Day!

Sometimes February can be a pretty dreary month, so we’ve had to come up with a lot of fun indoor activities to keep us entertained.  This morning, Mrs. Claus surprised us all with white tee-shirts and several packages of dye. Then she told us that we were each going to get to tie-dye a shirt! Elves love activities that let us show off our creative side, so tie-dying is perfect! Before starting the project, Mrs. Claus made us put on aprons and cover the floor with towels, just in case of a…

Winter Snow Storm!

We had quite a scare yesterday! Scroller and I had wandered off from the workshop to make snow angels when we were caught in a sudden blizzard! We tried flying back to the work shop, but the wind was so strong we were afraid of getting blown away. Lucky for us, Mrs. Claus told Santa that we’d wandered off. He climbed in his sled and set out to find us. We were huddled beneath a giant evergreen tree when he and Mrs. Claus appeared. They had blankets and two steaming mugs of hot cocoa for us!…

International Friendship Month

There’s nothing I enjoy more than spending time with my friends! We like to make snacks and have movie nights, bake cookies, and go flying together! Whenever I’m sad, Scroller and my other friends know exactly how to cheer me up – with a mug of hot chocolate, of course! A great group of friends is something that everyone, elf and people alike, should have in their lives! Who else would understand my silly jokes and sense of humor? February is International Friendship month, so be sure to…
